OSLO, NORWAY – A 54-year-old woman died 12 days after receiving the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine. Monica Aafløy Hansen, a former journalist, got her shot on March 8th. She became ill 11 days later and was transported to Oslo University Hospital on March 19th where she died as a result of blood clots. Health authorities investigated the causal relationship between the vaccine and her sudden death.
Monica Aafløy Hansen worked as a journalist for the weekly magazine Hjemmet and as a freelance journalist. She became a tour guide after her career in journalism. When the lockdowns started, it became difficult for her to make a living, so she took courses to become a health professional and volunteered to work as a medical assistant. It was in this job where she eventually received the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.
Hansen leaves behind a mother and a brother.
