BANG YAI, THAILAND – A 19-year-old woman died 18 days after receiving the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine. Orakanya Cheywatkoh got the shot on August 18th. She developed a fever shortly afterward. She collapsed at home on September 5th and the emergency number was called, but she had already died. Her family has filed complaints with multiple agencies about her sudden death.
Orakanya, who studied at Pongsawat College, got her AstraZeneca vaccine on Wednesday, August 18th at SCG Bang Sue center. She only experienced a little pain in her arm 15 minutes after the injection so she was allowed to leave. In the evening, she developed a fever as high as 40 degrees. She felt ‘sick’ up until Sunday, September 5th when she suddenly collapsed at home while doing laundry. Her boyfriend called 191 (the emergency number in Thailand) and a medical team arrived as quickly as possible, but she had already passed away.
Orakanya’s body was taken for an autopsy at the Institute of Forensic Science where doctors said that they weren’t yet able to clearly identify the cause of death. As a result, the family went to multiple governmental agencies to seek justice as the mother believes that her 19-year-old daughter died due to the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.
Her mother, Mrs. Natrada, filed a complaint on September 8th with the Bang Yai Police:
