VIEIRA DO MINHO, BRAGA – An 18-year-old girl died just 5 days after she had received the COVID-19 vaccine. Inês Rafael Mendes, a journalism student, got her shot on Monday, August 2nd. She suffered a cardiac arrest in the early morning of Saturday, August 7th. The emergency number (112) was called and a medical team arrived, who attempted to revive her, but it was too late. Her family believes that the COVID-19 vaccine is the cause of her sudden death.

Ines and 12 friends went on a camping trip at the Cabreira Camping Park on Friday, August 6th. She woke up the next morning feeling unwell. She collapsed moments later and suffered a cardiac arrest at 6:13 am. Paramedics were alerted and arrived shortly thereafter, but she had already passed away.

Her uncle said that she had no heart issues or any pre-existing conditions prior to her sudden death. Her uncle added:

“It’s unheard of for a healthy girl, who played sports and had a careful diet, to die suddenly like that. I do not believe there were excesses because Inês did not drink alcohol.”

Her case was handed over to the Judiciary Police of Braga.
