Texas Doctor on Prominent Houston Area Hospital & Feds: More Like China than America—One Size Fits All

Houston physician Dr. Mary Talley Bowden resigned from Houston Methodist recently resigned from the prominent hospital in America’s fourth most populous city. She conducted a press conference to explain her side of the controversy, eliciting a sharp retort from the hospital’s CEO Marc Boom who alleges the physician is spreading “dangerous misinformation about COVID-19 vaccines and treatments.”   Dr. Talley Bowden started a practice emphasizing unvaccinated patients as she observed discrimination against this demographic at the hospital.  This caught the attention of hospital administration as did the Houston area physician’s social media entries declaring her opposition to draconian national vaccine mandates as well as the potential efficacy of ivermectin.  She was abruptly suspended but then resigned in protest.  The nation’s doctors are in a “David and Goliath” situation with ever growing, more powerful health systems currently incentivized by the U.S. government to firmly align with the dominant COVID-19 public health narrative.

Local media KHOU 11 reported recently that physician Dr. Mary Talley Bowden was suspended by the hospital as apparently, she was going to only treat unvaccinated patients in her practice. She hadn’t even seen a patient yet and the controversy blew wide open to a suspension and then an abrupt resignation.

For example the CEO declared that “Her [Dr. Talley Bowden] claim that Houston Methodist will not treat unvaccinated patients is absolutely false. Houston Methodist cares for all patients and considers every individual a person of sacred worth and value.” Boom also accused Talley Bowden of “vulgar and foul language while expressing her opinions.”

The Doctor Speaks

The ear, nose and throat doctor specialist declared during a press briefing defended herself. She resigned, declaring “it is completely ridiculous.”  Trouble started when she started to focus on unvaccinated patients she claimed they were facing discrimination.

Her social media posts were a problem for the hospital. While opposing national vaccine mandates while also promising ivermectin in some cases declared “The government…and Methodist Hospital…It’s one size fits all no matter what. And if you voice any concerns, then you are attacked…bullied… and that’s China. That’s not America.”
